My name is Andrea. I live in New Mexico with my husband and my cat. We just moved to Los Alamos from Las Cruces and are learning to live our lives without all our old friends nearby. I'm a Starbucks Barista and am working on loving being in a small town.

GPOYW: Mousketeer edition! I am really pleased with how this point-camera-at-self-and-shoot shot came out! It was taken right after I got my first real mouse ears since I was 4 years old. I went for the old-timey ones because they are so damn classy, without being boring. I also remember exactly where I was standing… on the promenade in front of the Rivers of America, just south of where you board the raft to the island.
I really need to write up a trip report so I don’t forget how awesome vacation was.

GPOYW! On the Railrunner for the first time yesterday. (PS: You should totally full-view the other photos.)
It was a busy, tiring day! We got up at 5am to be out of the apartment at 6am to be on the 7am train from Santa Fe to Downtown Albuquerque. Then we walked to the 8th & Silver Flying Star and I had a green chile cheeseburger… yes, for breakfast. I’ve been wanting one since the hospital, and it was so satisfying! Then we went to the aquarium, which my partner-in-crime-of-the-day, Nikki, had never been to. It’s pretty small, so we also went into the botanic gardens.
Can I just stop for a moment to say how beautiful New Mexico weather is right now?! And to be out in the gardens with the fresh smells and happy butterflies after walking down a hot, dry, ugly part of Central was so lovely!
Then my friend Kathy came and picked us up and took us to Keva Juice, where I had my favorite smoothie of all time, the Low-Glycemic Bluffin’ Muffin and some froyo.
THEN we had our first experience with the Albuquerque bus system and rode it back to the Century 14, where we saw The Lion King 3D. Honestly… THAT movie is art. So much quality—- I don’t know what else I can say other than that it rained on my face like four separate times.
Then we had to wait around for an hour at the train station and got on around 5:35PM. The ride took nearly two hours, and being that we got up so early and I’m not allowing myself caffeine due to my colitis, it was a very zombified trip. We went to Trader Joe’s in Santa Fe and picked up ingredients for Spanish Eggs, and when we got back, Joe cooked it up for us. We were so tired that we all basically went to sleep right after dinner!
I love, love, love days full of adventures. I know now, after hearing Trey Parker and Matt Stone, that “and then” stories aren’t as good as “therefore” and “but” stories… but I’m leaving this here just as a way to show how much I love having a full day! One major event is not enough for me- I want days full of great stuff!
