Anyone else going with me?!?
(via poetry-orsomethinglikeit)
Not sure how I this translates, but my favorite photos of me from this trip (well, not all my favorites, but the ones that stand out in my mind) are when I’m holding a drink.
I had a disturbing exchange with a high school-aged person today that prompted this…
- Beer, wine, mead, and cider are fermented beverages.
- Mead is made from honey.
- Cider is made from apples.
- Beer is made from grains.
- Beer tastes like…
I like this. Also, the part where they were talking about Long Islands? All true. But what they didn’t tell you is that they are delicious
WONDERFUL BREAK-DOWN and I just learned a lot. Agreed with the list of stuff they say not to drink XD
But excuse me, wine is great (well, white wine is, anyway).
Also, mead is DIVINE. Just saying. Someone get me some for my next birthday (or just anytime before that would be cool, too).
Wine is fabulous. No but actually. If you think it tastes bad, you’re probably either a) drinking a shitty wine or b) drinking a really really heavy red. Or I suppose c) have no taste.
Also, Long Island Iced Teas are fucking delicious. There’s no reason not to drink them as long as you understand how much alcohol is in them and how your body can handle it.
Yup, strangely offended by the comment about pretending wine tastes good. It does! In any case, this is VERY useful information! I can think of several people who would benefit from this. And I learned a little bit too!
Happy birthday, dearest adoptive home state, NEW MEXICO! 100 years today, folks!
Joe’s Christmas present for me was a tripod for my camera! All evening shots in my apartment prior to this were blurry, or had crazy high ISO settings. So here’s a great example of the longer exposures I can take now. Mmm Sam Adams winter variety pack (but honestly, too many dark beers for me).
Plzensky Prazdroj — the bottom of my first half-litre in Prague. Despite having brought one of these glasses home, as you can imagine, it’s just not the same. Prague, Czech Republic. July 2011.
GPOYW: ”I love beer… Seriously.” Edition. Taken by Mandy! I left it dark for a reason.
I love people. I love my best friend. I love my old friends. I love my husband’s family (it almost sounds evil to call them in-laws). I love traveling. I love home. I love good food. I love wine. I love Pilsner. I love to be social.
I suppose the best part of a drunk dial is how free I feel to tell the people I’m talking how I feel! Unbridled happiness to be a member of the “society” I have built around myself.
I may not be so articulate after drinking, but I am decidedly more honest, open, and happy for the people around me.
And now for a photo, so this isn’t just some random text. Singin’ in the rain! #GPOY
Beer me, Plzensky Prazdroj… Pivo Sklep (“Beer Cellar”) in Plzen. I’m two down, and there’s only one more left in the fridge. Sad…
Portland Monthly’s Beer ‘n’ Burgers. Click through for deets and tickets.
UGH! Can I live there PLEASE?! Not that I’m crazy for Fred Meyer, but the people of Oregon have style and character.
The most magical room at the Pilsner Prazdroj brewery, where they serve you unpasteurized beer. July 2011.
The Portland airport is like heaven, compared to every other airport. In just one section, there’s a Made In Oregon store, a Starbucks, a Powell’s bookstore branch, and a Rogue Brewery offshoot. Joe and I drank a couple pints before boarding our flight. What a lovely send-off from a lovely town!
Vacation (Not-Phone) Camera Blog #6: The aesthetic of a sour beer is that some sort of fungus is supposed to have grown in it. My brother-in-law had us put our feet in it for a couple minutes. Can’t say I’m terribly excited by it yet, but it’s my first homebrew to be involved in so at least I got to put some of myself in it.
