I’ve never much cared for April Fools’ Day.

mandyelizabeth:

Probably because sometimes I can be a bit gullible, and I also don’t think I’m much good at pulling pranks.

Andrea holds the record for best prank ever pulled on me though. Freshman year of college we were planning our first adult vacation alone together to Disneyland and that morning she woke me up, in what was to me a rather convincing panic during my sleepy state, to tell me that our tickets fell through and we weren’t going to be able to go. She had me for a few minutes until I fully woke up and then started getting upset, at which point my brain started functioning again and I was able to piece it together.

Someday when her and Joe have kids I expect to hear the best stories from her on how she fooled Joe and/or their kids.

It’s true, I did this. It was my only real attempt at a good April Fool that I remember… I didn’t think it was that good. I remember Mandy lolling her head in confusion while waking up, turning over to face the wall her bed was up against, and she said something to the effect of, “No… that’s not true.” But hey, I guess it did work for a minute there!

I really needed a real vacation- a full-on trip- a few weeks ago. I got a trip in the hospital, and a stay at home. I was very happy back home, but the need to “get away” hasn’t been quelled. I’d love to go to Oregon or Disneyland, or less familiar places, like the Redwood Forest, or heaven forbid, Paris. Time to start saving money even more aggressively.

“The gold morning sun in the sky, the glorious vision of a rainbow, the bright, autumn leaves on the ground, there’s beauty untold, that’s ours to behold, in the wonderful world of color!”

GPOYW: Mousketeer edition! I am really pleased with how this point-camera-at-self-and-shoot shot came out! It was taken right after I got my first real mouse ears since I was 4 years old. I went for the old-timey ones because they are so damn classy, without being boring. I also remember exactly where I was standing… on the promenade in front of the Rivers of America, just south of where you board the raft to the island.
I really need to write up a trip report so I don’t forget how awesome vacation was.

Not sure how I this translates, but my favorite photos of me from this trip (well, not all my favorites, but the ones that stand out in my mind) are when I’m holding a drink.

Disneyland was a major success! I didn’t get as many photos as I’d have liked, but I’ll still be posting plenty over the next few days.  Here we are in Critter Country, right around the corner from where you meet Winnie the Pooh.
