1. New Mexico hike in the rain in a canyon. Seriously, just gorgeous. Also, there was a New Zealand sparkling Sauvignon Blanc. We had an amazing afternoon. This was just a quick snap from my little camera, which I’m glad I had when the thunderstorm really broke open on us later.

  2. Not sure how I this translates, but my favorite photos of me from this trip (well, not all my favorites, but the ones that stand out in my mind) are when I’m holding a drink.

I had a disturbing exchange with a high school-aged person today that prompted this…

    • Beer, wine, mead, and cider are fermented beverages.
    • Mead is made from honey.
    • Cider is made from apples.
    • Beer is made from grains.
    • Beer tastes like…

I like this. Also, the part where they were talking about Long Islands? All true. But what they didn’t tell you is that they are delicious

WONDERFUL BREAK-DOWN and I just learned a lot. Agreed with the list of stuff they say not to drink XD

But excuse me, wine is great (well, white wine is, anyway).

Also, mead is DIVINE. Just saying. Someone get me some for my next birthday (or just anytime before that would be cool, too).

Wine is fabulous.  No but actually.  If you think it tastes bad, you’re probably either a) drinking a shitty wine or b) drinking a really really heavy red.  Or I suppose c) have no taste.

Also, Long Island Iced Teas are fucking delicious.  There’s no reason not to drink them as long as you understand how much alcohol is in them and how your body can handle it.

Yup, strangely offended by the comment about pretending wine tastes good. It does! In any case, this is VERY useful information! I can think of several people who would benefit from this. And I learned a little bit too!

  9. I’m a lush!

I love people.  I love my best friend.  I love my old friends.  I love my husband’s family (it almost sounds evil to call them in-laws).  I love traveling.  I love home.  I love good food.  I love wine.  I love Pilsner.  I love to be social.

I suppose the best part of a drunk dial is how free I feel to tell the people I’m talking how I feel!  Unbridled happiness to be a member of the “society” I have built around myself.

I may not be so articulate after drinking, but I am decidedly more honest, open, and happy for the people around me.

And now for a photo, so this isn’t just some random text.  Singin’ in the rain!  #GPOY

  10. I’ll admit… I got kind of excited when I realized I bought a BYU shirt and would be drinking while wearing it.

  11. Summer Come Soon

Tonight I almost thought I got to have my summer evening back.  Our weather is downright warm and only the lightest of breezes dances at the tip of one’s hair.  My sister and her boyfriend sat on our balcony in the late afternoon with their feet up, soaking up the sun.  I bought a cheap white wine to be chilled for some evening sunset viewing.  I’ve decided to bake/cook this project with my friend Mandy today, and the afternoon slipped away as we put the rising dough in the refrigerator.

The sun is down already.  It doesn’t matter how much it feels like summer again, it’s still only February.  Summer finally has a good association for me, and I can’t wait to have it back.

  12. The Mickey winestopper my mom got us for Christmas provides for a little drunken entertainment.  January 2011.
I don’t know how much I’ve told my Tumblr audience, but my own computer (a MacBook) became the victim of a major party foul: whisky on the keyboard.  I haven’t been able to use it for at least a week now, hence the lack of real posts.  My sister has a Mac too, which she’s allowing me to use from time to time.  I’ve uploaded my last two sets of photos to Picasa (complete with captions on some!), so go gimme some love if you’ve got the spare time.

Our Christmas dinner.  A brined and roasted turkey, Christmas cookies courtesy of my friend Nikki, Glenlivet 12-year-aged single malt scotch whisky, Ghost Pines merlot, salad with a herbs de provence vinaigrette, oranges, a gravy, beets (not pictured), and chocolate in many forms (not pictured).  December 2010.

  14. “The Shoe Trick”

My favorite part is when Zack says, “We’re doing the shoe trick!” as if to say, “Well obviously!”

(Somewhere on the internet is a French guy showing you how to get a cork out of a wine bottle using a shoe.)
